The Mülamadhyamakakärikä is the most famous work of the great Acharya Nagarjuna, one of the main founders of the Madhyamaka School of Mahayana Buddhism. The central topic of this text is the understanding of emptiness of self and all phenomena, which are devoid of inherent existence and interdependently originated.

Teaching format

Two evenings of teaching followed by a full weekend. First level of a five-year curriculum to learn and deepen the foundations of Buddhist philosophy.

Curriculum Year 1

This teaching is the first year of a 5-year curriculum that will be delivered at the Ripa International Center; it will cover the twenty-seven chapters of “The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way”.

On the first year, the following chapters will be studied:

  1. Examination of Conditions
  2. Examination of Motion
  3. Examination of the Senses
  4. Examination of the Skandhas, and The Noble Eightfold Path.
