Dear Friends,

As Nepal is continuing to quiver and shake, and the earth has not yet fully settled, we want to update you on all the relief efforts the Ripa family and monks have been carrying out tirelessly over six weeks and since the April 25th earthquake.  We have reached out to District Singhu Palchowk, Phulping Katti Tatopani, to assist this remote region directly.  The villages where we are focusing our efforts are mainly the Dalit villages (lower caste villages), which are quite difficult to reach, and the roads are virtually non-existent. The monks have been moving stones and obstructions to clear these roads and create access for trucks to pass, providing much needed supplies.

We are pleased to say that through your generous donations and prayers, we are making good progress helping others.  We have distributed the following to those in need because of your support.

  • Over 35,000 pounds of rice (160 bags of rice, 100 kilos each) have been provided
  • 80 bags of lentils
  • 60 liters of oil
  • Life sustaining salt for almost 60 families

Today, there are still several hundred thousand Nepali citizens living without a roof above their heads according to the most recent government estimates.  We have distributed hundreds of tarpaulins (being used as tents) and blankets to many families in multiple villages who have not been able to receive aid from other sources.

As we continue to reach as many people as possible in many of the stricken areas, we would like to thank all of our donors for your continuing financial support and prayers. We are also in the process of assessing the damages to our monastery and monk hostels to be able to rebuild and repair. We will keep you updated on our progress.

Please continue to hold Nepal in your prayers. Anything you can do to support our efforts is critical at this difficult time, for more, please vist the Ripa Ladrang website page here.

With Prayers and Gratitude,
The Ripa Ladrang Team
