Saturday 23 – Thursday 28 July (end after lunch):

Open public teaching with Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche.

Based on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life.

More than ever before, the current state of affairs is calling for the awakening of the mind’s full potential to meet the unprecedented challenges of our time: pandemics, armed conflict, misinformation, polarisation…
Back in the 8th Century of the Christian era, Indian scholar and monk Shantideva composed the Bodhicharyavatara, A Guide to the the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life,  giving detailed explanations on how to cultivate and enhance bodhichitta, the main focus of Mahayana Buddhism. Bodhichitta refers to the pure intention and motivation of the practitioner –referred to as Boddhisattva– to benefit all sentient beings, beyond one own’s self-interest.

As H.H. Dalai Lama says in his foreword to the English version of Shantideva’s book: “With an increase in our own sense of peace and happiness, we will naturally be better able to contribute to the peace and happiness of others. Transforming the mind and cultivating a positive, altruistic, and responsible attitude are beneficial right now. Whatever problems and difficulties we may have, we can thereby face them with courage, calmness, and high spirits. Therefore, it is also the very root of happiness for many lives to come”.

In this public teaching addressed to Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche will give detailed explanations on how this ancient wisdom can be applied in today’s world to transform and expand our minds, helping us go beyond self-interest to sow the seeds of happiness, wisdom and compassion.

Arrival of participants on Saturday 23 July at 4 pm
Programme ends on Thursday 28 July at around 3pm.
