Monks sponsorship

A few words from H.E. Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche on the importance of monastic life:

“The Buddha Dharma is the ultimate source of happiness and help for all beings; therefore we must safeguard it by practicing and preserving the precious lineage of living wisdom. To do this, the monastic environment is indispensable. Such a sacred place radiates positive energy and promotes peace, harmony, happiness and freedom throughout the entire universe.
The monastery is a powerful place to experience the “living tradition” of Tantric Buddhism and anyone who comes into contact with it will instantly enjoy a sense of peace, serenity, compassion and wisdom and invoke within him/her the innate spiritual resources necessary to establish an authentic spiritual foundation”.

H.E. Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche

The Ripa monastic community

The monastery of Rigon Tashi Choeling (Nepal) was built according to the vision and guidance of H.E. Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche in Pharping, a prodigious site blessed by Guru Padmasambhava. It reconnects with the roots of the original seat of the Ripa lineage of Kham in eastern Tibet. With the Rigon Thupten Mindroling Monastery in Orissa (India) and the still existing seat in Kham (Tibet), it completes the triad of the Ripa Lineage settlements in this part of the world.

The importance of monastic life

The monastic community accomplishes a silent yet crucial work behind the scenes. Through their work of prayer, contemplation and study, the monks help to preserve harmony and promote peace in the world; indeed, it is a true “silent society” whose benefits go far beyond the Buddhist practitioner alone, but extend to all beings and help counteract the apogee of negative forces in the world.

Moreover, their education is based on the ancestral Tibetan tradition, which has been under threat since the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959. It is thanks to the monastic community’s commitment to study and practice that liturgical texts, that transmissions and cultural and religious rites have been preserved to this day for the benefit of all beings.

Priority will be given in the immediate future to the monastery of Rigon Tashi Choeling

Objectives of the sponsorship

But this “silent society” needs us, Western practitioners or sympathizers, to ensure its continuity. Thanks to the support of western benefactors, the monastic community of both Rigon Thupten Mindrolling in Orissa, India and that of Rigon Tashi Choeling, in Pharping, Nepal, were able to meet the challenge to feed, nourish, take care and educate an ever growing community of monks.

The objectives of the aid are to ensure the monks’ means of subsistence during their life in the monastery. Your sponsorship will enable the monks of Rigon Tashi Choeling to meet the costs of food, lodging, clothing, school materials and medical expenses. Your contribution will allow them to devote themselves to their spiritual practice without having to worry about the practical aspects of their lives.

How do I sponsor a monk?

If you wish to financially support a monk from the monasteries of the Ripa lineage, priority will be given in the immediate future to the monastery of Rigon Tashi Choeling, whose current need is very urgent. Your annual contribution of 420 CHF (35 CHF per month) per monk will allow the monastic communities of the Ripa Monasteries to flourish in the best conditions, for the good of all beings.
